Choose a profile's location
Choose a mode
The block sits in the profile window right under the proxy. A new profile comes with "Near the proxy address", and a profile created earlier comes with "This computer's real location".
- 1
Open the profile window
New profile at the top of the left column, or Edit in the row menu.
- 2
Pick the mode
The list in the Location block, right under the proxy.
- 3
Decide about the prompt
The "Share without asking" box under the list, for the first two modes.
- 4
Save
Create for a new profile or Save for an existing one, at the bottom of the window.
Near the proxy address
A site you allow gets a point a few kilometres from where the address directory puts the proxy exit. Each profile has its own, and it stays the same from one start to the next.
The exit location is measured through the proxy itself at start. A profile without a proxy takes the point near this computer's own internet address, and the line under the block says so.
My coordinates
Type the latitude, the longitude and an accuracy in metres from 1 to 5000. Take from the proxy fills in the point near the exit as a place to start from, and an empty accuracy means the same one the proxy point uses.
If the point is more than 50 km from the checked proxy address, the line under the fields names the distance. The coordinates are kept in the profile and travel with it to the team's machines.
Computer location or block
"This computer's real location" behaves like an ordinary browser. On a Mac the system does not give the program a location, so a site gets a refusal after "Allow": the line under the block says so, and in the built-in engine the prompt window says it too.
"Block" refuses any site that asks for the location, including one that was allowed before.
Lines under the block
Under the list the program writes what a site will get in the chosen mode, and adds a line when something is in the way.
Until ARMANOS Browser is updated
On a Mac a site gets a refusal after "Allow", and on Windows it does when the system blocks apps from the location. There the point goes out with "Share without asking".
The profile is open
A new point applies from the next page load, and a switch to the computer's location from the next start.
The proxy changed on an open profile
The browser goes through the previous proxy until it restarts, and until then a site gets "location unavailable".
Coordinates far from the address
The distance and the exit city are named: a site that compares the two sees the same.
A typing error
Latitude is a number from -90 to 90, longitude from -180 to 180, accuracy a whole number from 1 to 5000. A profile with an error is not saved.
Where you see what a site gets
The fingerprint card has a Location line, for example "Near Amsterdam, NL, accuracy 40 m". The profile's start page writes the same in its "Location for sites" line.
Test fingerprint compares the location the engine hands out with the profile's point, and the line "Location matches the proxy address" turns red when they differ.
What this does not do
- It does not yet give the point after "Allow" in ARMANOS Browser on a Mac. There "Share without asking" and "Block" work.
- It does not move the clock with the city. The time zone follows the exit country, and the fingerprint card says so when the point sits in another zone.
- It does not hold in ARMANOS Browser without the program. If the program closes unexpectedly while the profile window stays open, then on Windows and Linux a site you allowed during this session may get the computer's real location until the program starts again.

Questions
- Why did a site get "location unavailable"?
- The proxy exit has not been measured yet: the proxy did not answer or the address services stayed silent. Press Test proxy in the profile window, and the point appears from the next page load. If the proxy was changed on an open profile, the point appears after the profile restarts.
- A site asks for the location on every start.
- That is by design: a site's answer lasts while the profile is open. To stop answering each time, tick "Share without asking".
- Can I set the location when importing from a spreadsheet?
- Yes, with Latitude, Longitude and Accuracy columns, or with the location columns from another program's export. The preview shows what each row will get before anything is created.
- Can I set the location through the local API?
- Yes, when creating a profile: a geolocation field with the mode, the box and the coordinates. The profile returns it in the same shape.
