Rotating proxy

You buy it for the address rather than for the connection. How often that address moves, and who decides when it moves, is the whole difference between one offer and the next.

A rotating proxy is one entry point whose exit address changes, either on the seller's own schedule or on command.

Three ways an address moves

The entry point you configure stays the same. What changes is the exit the seller puts behind it.

All three are sold as rotating, so the shape of the rotation is the thing to read the offer for.

On every request
The gateway picks a different exit for each connection it opens. Useful for gathering and wrong for anything with a login.
On the seller's clock
A mobile modem takes a new address on a period the seller sets. You are told the period rather than asked for it, and nothing on your side shortens it.
On a link you walk
The seller hands you an address to fetch, and fetching it is the command that moves the modem.

Four moments a profile asks

A rotating entry is worth little while the asking stays manual. The library row keeps the seller link and the profile decides when to use it.

How a change is judged

The address is measured now rather than taken from an old record, because a remembered one may have been read a week ago. Then the link is walked and the address is measured again.

Three answers come out of that and they are kept apart: moved to a new address, answered and stayed put, answered but not confirmed yet.

The link is walked directly

A change of address is a command to the seller. Sending it through the very channel that is restarting would return a broken connection instead of an answer, so the request goes straight out.

Where a change fails

A seller that says nothing for twenty seconds, an answer that is not a success, or a link that tries to redirect elsewhere: each one is reported with the seller's own words rather than as a general failure.

A redirect off the original host is refused rather than followed. One header would otherwise send that request anywhere.

Often confused with

Sticky session
The opposite setting on the same gateway: one address held for a while instead of a new one each time.
A pool of static addresses
Many addresses you already hold, handed out by the app in turn. Nothing moves at the seller.
A VPN
One tunnel for the whole machine, shared by every window. A profile-level address exists to avoid exactly that.

What this does not do

It does not obtain a new address on its own. Without a link from the seller there is no button, and nothing in the app can order a modem to move.
It does not promise that the address will differ. Sellers keep their own limit on how often a modem may move, and an unchanged address is reported as unchanged.
The switch before a launch stops the launch only when the request fails. A seller that answers and leaves the address where it was counts as done, and the profile opens on that same address.
It does not touch a window that is already open. Relaunching an open profile changes nothing, because a change of address mid-session is itself a signal.

Questions

Does a new address clear up an account problem?: No. The address is one signal among many, and a link already drawn between two accounts survives every address they use afterwards.
Why was the new address not confirmed?: A modem needs a moment to come back up, and a check sent right after the command catches it halfway. The address the app already knew is kept rather than wiped, and the row is not marked dead.
Can two profiles share one rotating entry?: They can, and then they move together. Both leave from whatever exit the seller has behind that entry at that second.
Is my rotation link sent anywhere?: It stays on this computer. It is also cut out of the report that travels with a support message.
Does a rotation change the fingerprint?: No. The address is the network side of the profile, and the fingerprint belongs to the profile itself.
