The proxy could not be applied
Two lines end up here
The password bridge could not start. For a proxy with a login the app runs its own small bridge on this computer, and the browser goes through it. The bridge did not start.
The proxy could not be applied, with the browser's own words after the colon. The browser refused the proxy line itself, most often because of a stray character in the address.
When the bridge did not start
Close the profiles that use the same proxy and launch again. If the line comes back, quit the app and open it again: the bridge starts fresh with it.
When the browser refused the line
Open the profile, type the address and the port of the proxy again by hand, and save. Copying from a seller's page sometimes brings a space or an invisible character along.
A proxy through your own server
A proxy through SSH does not end up here. Its line names the SSH reason in plain words and leads to its own article.
In a flow
A flow that opens this profile stops on it with the same line, and the step log shows the line with How to fix.
What this does not do
- It does not open the profile without the proxy. There is no switch for that, on purpose.
- It does not test the proxy. The Test proxy button does, and its answer names what stopped the connection.

The line and its link are held by stands you can run.

Questions
- Does a failed launch change the profile?
- No. The profile keeps its proxy, its cookies and its fingerprint, and nothing was sent anywhere.
- Why not open the window without the proxy?
- Every page would then go straight out with the real address of this computer, and the sites would see it. The launch stops instead.
