eBay selling accounts

eBay lets one person hold more than one account and acts on what those accounts do with each other. A profile per account keeps the sessions apart, and the ceilings below keep the pace of a young account human.

What eBay ties together

eBay reads the device a listing is written on, the address the session comes from, and the payment and postage details behind the sale. The postage label and the refund land in the same record, so an account is judged whole rather than sale by sale.

It also keeps that history for years, so an account is judged against what the same machine did long before today.

Several accounts are allowed

Holding a business account and a personal one is ordinary on eBay, and so is running two shops with different goods. A shop for spare parts and a shop for clothes are two audiences, and that is the case the rules were written for.

What it acts on is what the accounts do with each other: bidding on your own items, buying from yourself, or opening a fresh account after a suspension.

Why the ceilings exist

Listing and relisting at machine speed is the pace that sends a young account into review, and the edits count as much as the listings do. Ten new listings a day sounds small until the count includes every relist of the same item.

A warning comes first and the bar turns red at the number itself, with the counter named.

First week of a new account

An account opened this morning starts at a fifth of the daily ceiling and reaches the full number on the seventh day.

The ramp is a fraction of the scenario ceiling rather than a second number to keep in step, so raising one raises the other.

Selling limits belong to eBay

Every account gets a monthly limit on how many items it may list and how much they may be worth, and eBay raises it as the account earns a record. That raise follows delivered orders and settled disputes rather than the speed at which listings appear.

That number lives on eBay and is counted per month. Ours is counted per day and per profile, and the lower of the two is the one you feel.

What the rules actually say

The selling practices policy and the rules about multiple accounts are the documents that decide here, and they are rewritten more often than any page about them. A page about a policy is a copy, and a copy is only as fresh as the day somebody wrote it.

Read them at the source. We point at them rather than paraphrase them, because a paraphrase goes stale without saying so.

What this does not do

  • It does not raise the selling limit eBay sets for an account.
  • It does not make two accounts look like two people to a shared payment method or a shared postage address.
  • It does not bring back a suspended account, and opening a new one instead is exactly what eBay acts on.
  • It does not undo the link between accounts that already shared one browser.

Questions

How many accounts can one person hold?
eBay does not publish a number and neither do we. The ceilings here are counted per profile per day, and the app keeps the count for you rather than leaving you to guess.
Can I bid on my own listing from a second profile?
No. That is shill bidding, and a separate browser does not turn it into anything else.
Do your ceilings replace the selling limits?
No. eBay counts items and value per month, we count actions per day, and both are in force at once.
Why is switching capped at two a day?
Two accounts driven in turn from one machine all day is the pattern that links them. The counter turns amber at the first switch and red at the third.
Does a scheduled flow get its own budget?
No. A flow spends the same daily budget as your own clicking, and it stops at the same ceiling with the same reason shown.
