Team access when someone leaves

Working one set of accounts with two or three people is ordinary work. The question is what the second person gets, how narrow their view is, and what actually closes on the day they leave.

The unit of access

Almost everywhere, work is handed over as a secret. A password, a laptop, a disk image: once it is out of your hands it is out for good.

So the honest question to ask first is the leaving one. An approach with nothing to revoke is an approach where a departure means changing every password by hand.

Eight ways to hand over an account

Read the rows as approaches rather than as product names. The last row is ours, and you can check every cell in it: each one has code behind it that you can open.

Where an approach has no notion of a second person, the cell says so. An invented answer would be worse than a blank one.

Power by rank

A rank applies to the whole workspace and answers one question: how much this person may change.

  • Operator

Makes profiles in the employer's quota, shares them and deletes them. The shared creative library takes additions and deletions from any member.

  • Manager

Plus the shared working stock: folders, proxies, flows, schedules and orders in the proxy store.

  • Admin

Plus billing, the team, the log and other people's machines.

  • Owner

Everything, and the one seat nobody can take away.

One window per account at a time

Two colleagues opening one profile in the same minute produce two live sessions of one account from two places. So a profile is busy for everyone at once, not only on the machine where it was opened. With the app signed out, or the server out of reach, it opens the profile rather than stopping your work, and two colleagues can then land on one account.

A machine pulled from the wall does not hold a profile forever: three minutes later it is open to the team again, and you have nobody to ask.

What happens on the last day

Removal and a departure by choice run one path, and everything below happens at once rather than in pieces. There is no half of it: either all of it comes back or none of it does.

  • Shares are cut

Their access to other people's profiles goes, and access to the profiles leaving with them.

  • Their profile is yours again

A profile they were holding opens for you at once, though the list keeps showing it busy for a little while.

  • A date splits the profiles

What was made inside the workspace passes to the owner, and what they brought goes with them.

  • Working proxies stay behind

A leaving profile does not take the employer's pool proxy with it, nor the password saved for it.

  • Unused invites die

A second code on the same address stops being a way back in.

  • Machines and folder access go

Devices are unlinked, and the folder restriction does not travel to the next employer.

A written record of who did what

A colleague leaving does not empty the history: the rows stay where they are.

Renaming a profile today does not rewrite last week.

What this comparison does not claim

  • It compares how access is given and taken back. What a person does once inside an account is a different subject, and no browser settles it.
  • Rows about the other approaches describe the approach in general. We publish nothing about any named product, because we cannot measure someone else's honestly.
  • The roster is open inside a workspace. Anyone in it can read who else is in it and with which rank, because that is how you pick whom to share with.
  • Revoking a share removes the profile from a colleague's app. It does not erase the cookies already on their disk, so this is not a remote wipe.
  • Access a leaver had opened to the colleagues who stay is left alone on purpose. Profiles that pass to the owner keep working for the people still there.

How to check this

Every cell in our row has a file behind it, and most have a stand that drives a live server.

Questions

Is there a plan called Team?
No. The plans are free, professional, business and enterprise, and a seat is a person in a workspace, with the owner always holding one.
Can a colleague read a stored proxy password?
A manager reads the pool, because the pool is their work. An operator gets a stored login only inside a profile shared to them.
What does the second person see on a busy profile?
A refusal that names the machine holding it rather than a silent failure. A deliberate takeover exists, and the previous holder learns of it at the next renewal.
Does a shared profile bring its session?
The fingerprint and the settings travel with the profile. Cookies and logins travel through profile sync when it is switched on.
Do invites work without mail set up?
The letter arrives only if the server has mail configured. Otherwise it is queued and marked as not sent, and you pass the code over yourself.

Look at the roster before you buy a seat

The free plan runs the same engine as the paid ones, and the fingerprint check reads 12 values in your browser without sending them anywhere.
