Shopify store admin

A Shopify store is your own shop rather than an account on somebody else's marketplace, so nobody there decides how many stores one person may hold. What reads the device instead is the payment side, the staff logins and your own analytics.

Who watches a store owner

There is no marketplace here deciding whether two stores belong to one person, and that changes what the browser is for. The device still matters, only to a different reader.

The watching is done by the payment side: a payout review reads the store, the orders and the person behind the bank account, in that order.

A store is not an account

Holding several stores is ordinary, and the work happens in an admin panel rather than in a seller account someone granted you. Two panels open in one browser share every cookie the apps installed on them set.

A profile per store keeps those admin sessions apart, which matters most when the stores belong to different clients.

Why the ceilings exist

Bulk work in the admin panel is the quickest way to make a young store look automated to its own provider and to the apps installed on it. An app watching product changes sees the same burst the payment side sees.

Each counter warns on the way up and turns red at the top, so the day ends with a number rather than with a locked panel.

First week of a new store

A store opened this week starts at a fifth of the daily ceiling, and the app raises it every day until the seventh.

The ramp is a fraction of the scenario ceiling, so it follows that number rather than standing beside it as a second rule.

Testing checkout as a customer

A test order placed from your own admin session carries your cookies into the store's analytics and into every pixel on the page. The order counts itself into conversion as well, which quietly flatters the week.

A separate profile makes the test look like a visit from outside, which is the only way it tells you anything.

What the rules actually say

The terms of service and the acceptable use policy cover the store, and the payment provider's own terms cover the money. Payouts follow the second document rather than the first.

Read both at the source, because they are revised often. We point at them rather than paraphrase them, since a paraphrase ages badly.

What this does not do

  • It does not keep a payout from being reviewed. That decision belongs to the provider.
  • It does not hide the person behind the bank account a store pays into.
  • It does not replace staff accounts. A person on the team deserves their own login, not your password.
  • It does not control what a theme and its apps send from the store to third parties.

Questions

How many stores can I run from one machine?
As many as your plan gives profiles. The ceilings are counted per profile per day, not per machine.
Do I need a separate proxy for each store?
For your own stores it matters less than on a marketplace. For client stores it matters, because a client's logins should not share your address.
Does the app place orders for me?
No. It opens the store in a profile, and a flow does what you built it to do inside the same ceilings.
Why count customer emails at all?
Thirty messages an hour from a young store is how a store gets read as a mailer. The warning comes at three quarters of the ceiling.
What happens at the ceiling?
Nothing stops. The count and the warning are shown, each action has its own threshold, and what you do with that is your call.
