Telling your own profiles apart

Two profiles that describe one computer are tied to each other however different their proxies are. One button in the fingerprint window counts how many separate machines your profiles add up to, and names the ones that are not separate.

Why a twin is the worst tell

A proxy changes where a profile comes from, not what the machine behind it says about itself.

Two profiles reporting one screen, one core count, one memory size and one card are linked, and separate cookies do not undo that.

A platform need not prove the two belong together. It reads the coincidence, and one across six values at once is the kind it acts on.

What the button does

The fingerprint window of any profile has Compare with other profiles. It reads every profile here and holds each against the one you opened.

With a single profile there is nothing to compare, and the panel says so beside the number. Profiles in the recycle bin are left out.

Nothing is launched. The machine is derived from the profile number and its template, so all of them are compared at once.

Six fields make a machine

Two profiles count as one machine when all six agree. The clock stands on its own line and does not enter that verdict.

Pixel ratio and platform decide a twin without appearing in the list below. The platform is never offered for editing, and the ratio follows the panels that template ships with.

A real reading

A field only this profile holds separates it. A field the whole crowd shares separates nobody, and the list shows which is which.

Shared with ten means ten other profiles report that value. The smaller the number, the more the field separates.

What a hundred profiles add up to

Measured on three hundred draws of a hundred profiles per template on the shipped engine, with no proxy attached.

Different machines is how many distinct computers the hundred describe. Largest group is the biggest pile sharing one of them, and a profile inside that pile meets the rest of it as twins.

Your own hundred lands somewhere in the range: it is a draw, not a constant.

The clock is counted apart

The exit country decides the time zone AND the language list: both are replaced, so a proxy moves two fields, not one. They are reported apart because they follow the country rather than the draw.

Only seven countries out of 114 carry a spread of zones. Behind the other 107 a hundred profiles land on one zone and one language list, and that is the honest ceiling of these two fields.

Counted by running the generator, three hundred sets of a hundred profiles. Without a proxy a hundred hold 39 to 49 different language lists, usually 44.

What to do with a twin

The report reads the values a launch would, hand-picked ones included. The exception is the exit country: it comes from the profile record and stays empty until the first launch or the first press of the proxy check. An edited field moves the number straight away.

Fix a twin on the profile you have not spent yet, not on the one already carrying an account.

    Change one field by hand

    The editor offers only what that template's real machines report, and screen and card are where the choice is widest: nine panels and ten cards on the Mac.

    Press the button again

    The reading is computed from the profile itself, so the new answer appears without opening anything.

    Or start a fresh profile

    A different profile number draws a different machine, and an account with no history behind it loses nothing by moving.

A profile already in use is a poor place to experiment

Accounts signed in on that profile know the machine they saw. Handing them a new screen is a new computer, which is what a takeover looks like from their side.

What this does not do

  • It compares your profiles with each other and with nothing else. How common that machine is out on the internet is never asked, and a rare one is a tell of its own.
  • It is not a forecast of blocks. Two profiles separable here can still be tied by one payment card, one proxy, borrowed cookies or your working rhythm, none of it read here.
  • Only profiles on this computer are counted, and only ones outside the recycle bin. Profiles a colleague keeps on another machine are not in the number.
  • The clock is reported field by field and stays out of the twin verdict. Two profiles can be named twins with different time zones.

Questions

Does it open a browser to answer?
No. The machine is derived from the profile number and template, so all profiles are compared at once.
How many twins are too many?
One is already a link between two accounts. The panel turns amber at one or two and red at three, because a group on one machine reads as one person.
Why does memory always look shared?
Chrome reports at most 8 GB whatever the machine holds, so memory separates almost nobody. The card and the screen do the work.
Two profiles on one phone model, is that bad?
Far less than on a desktop. There are 22 handsets in the pool, and real phone traffic repeats models the same way.
Does a proxy country change the answer?
Not the count of machines: the signature has no zone in it. It does replace the clock and the language list.
